Google announced in a Pixel community post that it would launch the April 2024 security update for Pixel series phones on April 2. It’s important to note that this security update applies to Pixel 5a (5G) and later models.

The update content as follows:

Fix the camera exposure error issue of Pixel 8 series phones;

Fixed an issue where black halo artifacts appeared in the viewfinder on Pixel 8 series phones when switching from photo mode to video mode at 1x zoom;

Improve camera zoom stability on Pixel 6 and later models;

Fixed an issue where the Pixel 5a (5G) phone would have a black screen when unlocked under certain circumstances.

The April 2024 update also includes eight general Android 14 security patches. In addition to this, there are 25 patches specifically targeting Pixel devices, two of which Google says “may be subject to limited, targeted exploitation.” The two vulnerabilities have been assigned CVE numbers: CVE-2024-29745 and CVE-2024-29748, with the first affecting the Pixel bootloader and the second affecting the Pixel firmware.
