Google released a Beta version of its Nearby Share app for Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems in April. The app allows users to quickly send and receive photos, documents and more on Android phones and Windows PCs, but it was only available in a few countries like the United States.
Since then, Google has quietly expanded support to other regions. On a support page, Google now says that Nearby Share for Windows PCs is now available in “most countries around the world”.
Nearby Share for PC is currently in beta, does not support ARM PC devices, and requires an Android 6 or later phone to use Nearby Share to share images, videos, documents, and more between Windows computers and Android devices in close proximity.
Users can share files between their own devices or with people around them who also use Nearby Share. When someone else sends you a file, you are asked to approve the request. Files are encrypted when they are shared.
