Some Google employees recently held demonstrations in California and New York. Alphabet said revenue for the fourth quarter was $76.05 billion, up 1 percent from $75.33 billion in the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, its net income was $13.62 billion.
In a post about the company’s financial results, the Alphabet employee union said, “It’s clear that Google has debunked its own reasons for firing 12,000 colleagues.” “Our colleagues don’t need to lose their livelihoods,” the report added.
According to a tweet from the Alphabet Workers Union, the day before, a number of workers demonstrated at the Mountain View, California, site of Google’s headquarters, calling for fair wages and benefits for those “responsible for training, testing and evaluating search algorithms.
The Alphabet Workers Union was reportedly the organization that arranged the two demonstrations.
