Google codenamed Felix folding phone Pixel configuration details leaked: Tensor G2 with 12GB RAM

Renders of the Google Pixel Fold reveal a familiar page-turning design, and the latest leak shows it looks like the device will have something similar. According to a Geekbench benchmark leak, Google’s first foldable Pixel will feature a Tensor G2 processor, the same chip used in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Codenamed “Felix” is often associated with Google’s foldable Pixel, and according to Geekbench 5, single-core and multi-core results have emerged. In terms of performance, the Tensor G2 did no better than the SoCs running in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which scored 1047 and 3257. While this makes the chipset significantly slower than the competition, we’ll see what optimizations Google has made to ensure that the Pixel Fold is responsive enough for real-world tasks.

The CPU configuration of the Tensor G2 running in “Felix” remains the same. Two high-performance Cortex-X2 cores run at 2.85GHz, two mid-range Cortex-A78 cores run at 2.35GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.80GHz. In addition, the smartphone is said to be running Android 13 and has 12GB of RAM.

The Pixel 7 Pro uses the same SoC and RAM count, and since Geekbench 5 results can be easily tampered with, it’s also possible that someone has manipulated these scores. At this point, we don’t have other data such as display specs, battery capacity, etc. If any of these were to appear in the public domain, it would help to make a fuller opinion of these results.

Meanwhile, given that the Pixel Fold will launch next year, it’s not surprising to think that it will feature the same hardware as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro since the Tensor G3 will launch in Q4 2023, not earlier.
