Google ChromeOS 108 finally introduces the Recycle Bin mechanism

For many Windows users, the Recycle Bin may be a feature that is often used. Some unwanted files can be dragged into the Recycle Bin first, but these files are not directly deleted, and users can subsequently restore certain files according to their needs. But in ChromeOS there is no such mechanism, and this situation has finally been improved in the latest ChromeOS 108 release.

In the previous version of ChromeOS, if a user wants to delete a file, a “Are you sure you want to delete this file” box will pop up, and the user can click “Cancel” to cancel the deletion operation. However, once the “Delete” button is clicked, the file will be completely deleted and cannot be recovered by the user.

In ChromeOS version 108 update, Google has finally optimized the Recycle Bin mechanism. Files that users click to delete are moved to a folder called “Trash”, which features a trash can icon at the bottom of the left sidebar.

Google says files in the Trash folder older than 30 days will be automatically deleted, and users can click the “Empty trash now” button at any time to empty the trash, or click “Restore from trash” in the upper right corner to restore a file.
