Google today invited some Chrome browser users in the Canary channel to test a new feature called Link Capturing for PWAs.
After the user clicks on the PWA application link, a new tab page will no longer pop up, but the corresponding PWA application window will be evoked, allowing the user to browse directly.
Browser enthusiast @Leopeva64 shared the tweak on X (Twitter) today, and Canary Chrome users can experience this feature by enabling the #enable-user-link-capturing-pwa experimental Flag.
To enable Link Capturing for a PWA application, users first open the PWA from a browser and choose to remember their choice. Users can also enable Link Capturing for a specific PWA application in the application management settings page.
Note: Microsoft Edge browser v97 version has already launched this feature, and Chrome has now also followed up with this feature.
