The browser reading mode allows users to read web articles or pages in the browser, remove ads, pictures or videos and other distracting elements, only retain the text content. Although Google Chrome also supports reading mode but does not provide the default function, you need to enable the “Read Anything” option in the developer Flag in order to use it.
It is noticed that Google is making changes to this reading mode tool, hiding all the setting options in a gear icon. This gear icon is located on the left side of the Reading Mode panel, and clicking on it allows you to adjust options such as font size, font style, color, line height, and word spacing. The good thing, though, is that clicking on any of the options doesn’t close the dialog box, so you don’t have to re-click the gear icon every time to bring up the settings menu.

Some may think that Google did this to make Reading Mode more “distraction-free,” but others think it’s a bad design because it makes it difficult for users to find and use the editing options.
What many users would prefer is for Reading Mode not to be tucked away in the sidebar, but to cover the entire webpage and be able to switch between them at any time, just like Edge’s Reading Mode, so that users can switch between the entire webpage and not just a small area on the right side of the screen.
