After showing off its lock screen clock and shortcuts at Google I/O 2023, Google today rolled out the Android 14 Beta 2 update for Pixel phones.
Android 14 Beta 2 is an “incremental Beta quality release” following the initial Android Beta Program release that was rolled out last month via an OTA update.
With Android 14 Beta 2, you’ll get a more complete and stable version to continue testing and development.”
The developer reported issues (fixed)
- Fixed platform stability issues that could cause UI lag or freeze, app crashes, or device crashes.
- Fixed a fingerprint sensor issue that prevented adding a new fingerprint for fingerprint unlock in some cases.
- Fixes a UPI and biometric issue that could cause some apps to not function properly.
- Fixes an issue that prevented the device from being unlocked with fingerprint after tapping a notification or selecting a notification action on the lock screen.
- Fixes an issue on some devices that caused sound to be played through the speaker instead of the connected headphones.
- Fixes an issue that caused icons on the home screen to be almost invisible.
- Fixed gesture navigation issues that occurred when using the custom launcher:
- When swiping up to return to the home screen, the content of the home screen would not be displayed and the animation could not be rendered.
- Can’t access the list of recently used apps with normal gestures.
- Fixes an issue that prevented users from interacting with notifications in the notification bar.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the device to crash after completing an audio or video call.
Other issues resolved
- Fixed an issue that caused the screen to flicker when launching any application after entering and exiting picture-in-picture mode.
- Fixes an issue where use restrictions set by the DPC administrator were not enforced in Settings.
- Fixes an issue where opening the latest photo from the thumbnail in the Google Camera app would briefly show a green shadow on the image after taking a photo with the app.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the battery percentage to show 0% after a device reboot, regardless of the actual charge level of the device.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the device to crash and then when the device restarted, all wallpapers selected prior to the restart would be reset.
- Fixes an issue that prevented the Better Bug app from uploading bug reports.
- Fixes an issue that caused the Back to Home gesture to stop working.
- Fixes an issue that could cause the System Settings app to crash repeatedly.
- Fixes an issue that prevented users from searching in the System Settings app.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a null pointer exception in Input Method Editor (IME).
- Fixed an issue that sometimes unnecessarily increased system-wide memory usage.
- Fixed a system issue that sometimes caused a deadlock.
- Android 14 Beta 2 (UPB2.230407.014) with the May 2023 security patch is available for Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as Android emulators.
