Goertek released new VR Pancake module, adapted to 4K Micro-OLED screens

It is learned from Goertek’s official public account that on July 29, the “2023 VR&AR” sponsored by Goertek Optical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Goertek), a subsidiary of GoerTek, Display Optics Technology Summit” was held in Qingdao. At the meeting, Goertek released a new VR Pancake module and AR-HUD PGU module to help equipped products achieve clearer and better display effects.

At present, pancake has become the main optical solution for thinning and lightening VR head-mounted displays. This time, Goertek launched a new VR pancake display module StarCraft C31, which adopts a 2-piece lens design and curved paste gluing technology. According to the official statement, compared with the mainstream LCD pancake Module, under the premise of ensuring 95°FOV, PPD (pixel density) is increased by 85%, MTF (definition) is increased by 20%, stray light is reduced by 25%, and it is adapted to 4K Micro-OLED screen to make the display effect more clear and delicate ; At the same time, another VR Pancake display module, Interstellar P31, adopts a 3-piece lens solution and a mature planar film technology. The MTF is increased by 15%, and the FOV is up to 95°, which can be adapted to 4K Micro-OLED screens. The excellent display effects of the two products can meet the needs of various application scenarios such as video conferencing, business office, and audio-visual entertainment.

In addition, GoerTek also launched the PGU 4620 Gen2, an upgraded version of the PGU 4620 module for the vehicle-mounted AR-HUD. Using the latest DLPC technology, the brightness has increased by 80% compared with the previous generation product, reaching 200lm, the refresh rate is 120Hz, and the contrast ratio is as high as 1800:1. And the multi-color temperature adjustable function has been added to meet the display requirements of different environmental user scenarios; in addition, the module adopts a modular design, which can be quickly adjusted and developed according to requirements, shortening the development cycle and accelerating product launch.

According to Goertek, since its establishment in 2012, it has been committed to the R&D and production of optical display technologies such as VR&AR and micro-projection. In 2019, it achieved the mass production of the world’s first Pancake VR display module and has been leading in shipments for many years.
