General Motors has launched a new electric SUV, the Chevrolet Equinox EV, aimed at the mass market, according to foreign media reports.
Based on GM’s scalable Ultium platform, the Chevy Equinox EV features two available powertrains with a standard range of 250 miles (about 402 kilometers) and an optional range of 300 miles (about 482 kilometers), starting at $30,000, which will make it one of the least expensive electric cars available.
Chevy says all Equinox EVs will have a maximum DC fast charging rate of 150 kilowatts, which is enough to add 70 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
According to foreign media reports, the car will be available next fall and production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023 in Ramos Alispe, Mexico.
