GlobalFoundries Partners with Purdue University to Enhance R&D and Expand Semiconductor Education

0

Purdue University, a public university with a leading semiconductor manpower development and R&D program, and GlobalFoundries (GF), a manufacturer in the field of semiconductor manufacturing, recently announced the establishment of a new strategic partnership to strengthen and expand collaboration in semiconductor research and education. The signed agreement outlines opportunities for collaboration between GF and Purdue University on joint research and development projects and educational opportunities.

For GF, the partnership with Purdue will be overseen by GF Laboratories, which leads the company’s research and development efforts, working with leading academic, government and industry collaborators to advance GF’s differentiated technology portfolio.

Earlier this year, Purdue University launched the first large-scale comprehensive semiconductor degree program in the United States, offering an innovative set of interdisciplinary degrees and certificates in the field of semiconductors and microelectronics. GF’s chief technology officer, Gregg Bartlett, is an inaugural member of Purdue’s semiconductor degree leadership committee, which advises the program and its curriculum. This area is one of the key topics in Purdue’s “Next Steps,” a strategic initiative to advance the University’s competitive advantage.
