The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) recently released a report, that said the 1 quarter of 2023 global semiconductor sales of $ 119.5 billion, down 8.7% sequentially and down 21.3% year-on-year.
SIA’s report consolidates revenue data from 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip companies.
SIA President and CEO John Neuffer in the report as follows:
"Affected by the market cycle and macroeconomic headwinds, semiconductor sales continued to decline in the first quarter of 2023, but the March quarter-on-quarter sales rose for the first time in nearly a year, inspiring optimism in the market, and further recovery is expected in the coming months."
By market, semiconductor sales in Europe increased 2.7% in March, Asia/Pacific / All Other Countries increased by 2.6% and China increased by 1.2%.
All markets saw sales decline in the quarter, with Europe down 0.7%, Japan down 2.3%, the Americas down 16.4%, Asia/Pacific/All Others down 22.2% and China down 34.1%.
