G/O Media, the parent company of Gizmodo, recently announced that its Spanish subsidiary website Gizmodo en Español will fire all editors and reporters and will instead use artificial intelligence to automatically translate English reports into Spanish for publication.

Matías S. Zavia, the former editor of Gizmodo en Español, confirmed that the company had initiated layoffs on August 29th in a post on the X (Twitter) platform saying that AI had taken his job, tweeting that the @GizmodoES website had been shut down and turned into a translation self-publisher.

The Gizmodo website was founded in 2002 and covered design, technology, science, and sci-fi topics.
However, the transition to Gizmodo en Español has not been perfect so far, with some users noticing that some articles are not fully translated and appear in English in Spanish.
Newly published articles on Gizmodo en Español now include a disclaimer indicating that the content has been automatically translated and that minor discrepancies may occur due to the complexity of machine translation.
