Gigabyte teases new PCIe 5.0 SSD with speeds up to 12.5GB/s

With the release of AMD’s new generation Raider 7000 and AM5 platforms approaching, SSD manufacturers are also starting to warm up to the latest PCIe 5.0 SSDs, with manufacturers such as ADATA, Samsung and Corsair all set to launch PCIe 5.0 models.

Gigabyte is also previewing the new AORUS Gen5 SSD 10000 model.

As shown above, the SSD measured 12,453.9 MB/s sequential read and 10,074.5 MB/s sequential write speeds.

It is expected that GIGABYTE’s PCIe 5.0 SSD is powered by the PS5026-E26 main control from Qunar.

The PS5026-E26 host was previously announced to feature a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface with 1TB of Micron 3D TLC flash memory for a maximum sequential read speed of 12,457 MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 10,023 MB/s. In terms of random performance, the SSD achieves 4K random read speeds of 1310k IOPS and 4K random write speeds of 1160k IOPS.

Both AMD Raider 7000 and Intel Core 13 platforms are expected to support PCIe 5.0 SSDs, which are expected to debut at a higher price than PCIe 4.0 models of the same capacity, making them suitable for geeky users.
