Gboard introduced a split keyboard layout for foldable devices in a version update earlier this year. And in the recently acquired version update, Gboard has again optimized the input keyboard layout for Android tablet devices, with wider spacing between each key and easier for users to click.
According to the latest screenshots shared by foreign media 9to5Google, the Gboard layout for Android tablets is slightly taller and allows better access to the keyboard keys. The new design features square keys that are easier to click than the old layout with larger rectangular buttons. You can also use the new Tab, Left Arrow, and Right Arrow buttons, and the Caps Lock key is now in its usual position on the second row.
The comma and period buttons are no longer located next to the space bar; Google has moved them to their default position between the M and Shift keys. They have replaced the exclamation mark and question mark keys, and you must click the special character and number buttons in the lower left corner to access them. The dedicated emoticon button is now located to the left of the spacebar, rather than to the right.
Again, the changes you see are subtle at best. However, along with these changes, Google has also added a sixth shortcut in the suggestion bar at the top. However, the new layout is unchanged in portrait mode, with slightly narrower buttons.
