GALAX is preparing to launch the next-generation Hall of Fame (HOF) Extreme 50 series of new solid-state drives, featuring a Phison E26 master. In addition to being fully compliant with PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 requirements, it is also equipped with an active cooling solution to ensure speed and stability under long-term high-load usage.

With the support of Phison E26 master controller and 232-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory using TSMC’s 12nm process, HOF Extreme 50 series PCIe 5.0 solid-state drives can achieve sequential read and write at 12 GB/s and 10 GB/s.

In terms of random performance, it can also achieve 4K reads and writes at 1500k and 1250k IOPS. In terms of capacity, GALAX provides 1TB / 2TB / 4TB three-speed options for the HOF Extreme 50 series.

The new generation of HOF Extreme 50 series M.2 NVMe SSD also provides “GALAX Magic Disk Xtreme Tuner” software that supports a series of functions such as SMART self-check, storage optimization, firmware update, secure erase, temperature monitoring and so on.

In addition, thanks to the newly designed active cooling solution, GALAX said that the HOF Extreme 50 can transfer a large amount of heat faster than the standard SKU to ensure long-term high-speed and stable operation of the SSD.

Sadly, GALAX has yet to disclose the exact pricing and launch date of the HOF Extreme 50. However, for PC users whose motherboards already come with heatsinks, the company also offers a standard kit option.

Finally, it is expected that later this year, various companies including MSI, ADATA, TeamGroup, GOODRAM, AORUS, Apacer, Kioxia, Corsair, etc. Big brands will launch their own new consumer-grade PCIe 5.0 SSDs.

And the new generation of SSD will fully comply with Microsoft DirectStorage API and AMD Smart Access Storage (SAS) and other related technical requirements.
