The second phase of GAC Toyota’s new energy vehicle capacity expansion project was officially put into operation in Nansha District, Guangzhou City yesterday. GAC Group stated that the completion of the project marks that GAC Toyota has officially possessed a production capacity of one million units, and will accelerate the implementation of an all-round electrification strategy.

Data show that the second phase of GAC Toyota’s new energy vehicle production capacity expansion project covers an area of 740,000 square meters, with a production capacity of 200,000 units per year. This year, in the second phase of the new energy vehicle capacity expansion project, GAC Toyota’s first e-TNGA pure electric medium-sized SUV bZ4X rolled off the production line.
GAC Toyota was established in September 2004, and its cumulative production reached 7 million units in October this year. At present, GAC Toyota has formed a product line covering a total of 12 electrified models including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric vehicles, covering the sedan, SUV, and MPV market segments. This year, GAC Toyota will also introduce Toyota’s second-generation Mirai hydrogen luxury sedan.
GAC Toyota stated that it will comprehensively expand its lineup of pure electric products and accelerate the ecological layout of the new energy industry. It plans to account for nearly 60% of sales of electrified models by 2025 and 100% by 2035.
