Future Samsung Galaxy A Series Phones May No Longer Have Depth Sensors

Samsung’s Galaxy A smartphone series is one of the best options for those looking for an affordable yet premium experience. These models usually end up with similar features as the Galaxy S series phones, but at a lower price point. Examples include AMOLED displays, in-display fingerprint sensors, 120Hz refresh rates, and much more. However, a recent report suggests that Samsung may be removing a camera sensor from future Galaxy A-series phones.

The Galaxy A series phones have been equipped with four cameras for a long time: the main camera, an ultra-wide angle camera, a macro camera and a depth sensor. Now, Samsung may remove the depth sensor.

This means that future Galaxy A phones like the Galaxy A24, A34 and A54 will come with only three lenses, with only one main lens, one ultra wide-angle lens and one macro lens.

More specifically, this report talks about how the Galaxy A24 will come with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 5MP macro camera; the Galaxy A34 will come with a similar pairing of 48MP + 8MP + 5MP, and the Galaxy A54 is thought to come with 50MP + 5MP + 5MP, however, there is reason to believe that the ultra-wide angle sensor may be a bit higher than the reported pixel values should reveal.

The A-series phones are the best-selling phone models, not only for consumers but for Samsung as well, they are the models that bring in major revenue for Samsung’s smartphone division and it is worth seeing how well consumers respond to the exclusion of the depth sensor, which in fact is not very important to many people.
