There is a lot of talk going around now about satellite connectivity, and this time it relates to the Apple Watch. Recent information has it that a coming Apple Watch will have satellite connectivity built into it. Well, what is this feature mentioned all about, and why will an Apple Watch need it?
Satellite connectivity is all about accessing the internet with the help of a communication satellite. This feature can be very useful for people who travel a lot or visit areas with low internet connectivity. With this feature, once an Apple Watch user is in an area with a low internet connection, the watch immediately syncs to a satellite and reconnects to the internet. Apple’s “said partnership” with Globalstar Inc. makes the addition of this feature on its devices even more likely.

This is not the first time rumours have it that a certain Apple product will have satellite connectivity. Last year, before the launch of the iPhone 13 series, rumours had it that the iPhone 13 will be equipped with satellite connectivity. But to the dismay of many, things didn’t play out as expected, and none of the iPhone 13 models could connect to the internet via a satellite.
This emergency feature may come with the iPhone 14 series as well. If it shows up on the iPhone 14 series, then it’ll perform the same task as on the Apple Watch. The iPhone 14 will launch in the second half of 2022, but we aren’t sure about the launch of the Apple Watch which will feature satellite connectivity.
Currently, we can’t pinpoint the exact Apple Watch that will come with this feature, whether it be the Watch 8 or any future Apple Watch. What we can be sure of is the fact that Apple aims to produce an Apple Watch or iPhone that can access the internet via satellite.
