Fujifilm announced today that it will launch an Instax Pal digital camera set specially designed for children at the end of October, priced at US$199.95.
The Instax Pal digital camera doesn’t print any photos, and it doesn’t have a built-in viewfinder. Instead, it outputs images through a companion app, which can then be printed via the Instax Mini Link 2 mobile printer. The package also includes a pack of Instax Mini film.
Instax Pal is aimed at children, so everything about it is designed to be “fun.” For example, you can customize the shutter sound, add filters, text and in-app stickers, and even earn rewards (although exactly how that is is unclear). Of course, its compact size and removable loop handle also make it easier for little hands to hold.
Meanwhile, like the Instax Mini Evo instant camera, kids can choose which photos they want to print. This is a feature that parents especially like because it helps kids avoid wasting expensive film on failed shots.
The Pal can also shoot remotely via the app, supports interval shooting (3, 6, 11, or 21 consecutive images at 3-second intervals), and features a small flash to illuminate the subject.
