Framework’s new 16-inch modular laptop features BOE’s semi-custom screen

The modular laptop manufacturer Framework will launch a 16-inch laptop 16 large-screen model later this year. The graphics card, storage, screen, keyboard and other components can be replaced by users themselves.

According to the latest official announcement, this laptop uses a semi-customized screen from BOE.

Officials say they want to make sure the screen is great for gaming, content creation, and general productivity while being thin, light, energy-efficient, and cost-effective. Since there is currently no off-the-shelf panel that can meet all these needs, Framework worked with BOE to develop a semi-custom LCD display module with a custom backlight, higher brightness and better contrast and color gamut.

The panel parameters are as follows:

The Framework Laptop 16’s display panel has a 2560×1600 resolution, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, variable refresh rate up to 165Hz, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 500 nits of brightness. The display module can also be replaced by itself.

According to officials, Framework Laptop 16 is expected to be released this summer, and then pre-orders will open.
