It is worth noting that this year’s NPI of the new iPhone is a little different from previous years, mainly because the gap between the mass production of iPhone in mainland China and India will be narrowed, in previous years, the mass production time between the two places is about six to nine months, last year shortened to two months, this year will be shortened to a few weeks.

The report said, because India is also planning to produce the new iPhone 15 / Pro series, only Foxconn has the ability to produce high-end iPhone in India, as the new machine manufacturing schedule in India is shorter than in previous years, highlighting the new iPhone OEM this year, Foxconn is still standing in a dominant position.
Foxconn has never commented on a single customer and order dynamics. Supply chain sources said that this year’s new high-end iPhone 15 models may be named iPhone 15 Pro Max or iPhone 15 Ultra, but they have yet to be named, so for now, they will be named after the high-end iPhone 15.
NPI is the most important preparation before Apple mass produces new machines. In the first quarter of each year, Apple usually sends out trial production orders for new products to the foundries, which means that Apple will introduce its plans for new products this year to the foundries, which then have to prepare a bill of materials (BOM), set up proper production and testing machines, and also have to establish a quality monitoring process.
After starting the trial production, the foundry has to collect data, correct abnormalities, evaluate the production process and the items that need to be improved, and assess whether the trial products are acceptable.
As for the foundry that gets the NPI, it is the first supplier of iPhone, while the one that does not get the NPI is the secondary supplier, and the gap between the two in orders will be very big. At the same time, getting the NPI is the same as designing the new iPhone with Apple and laying the foundation for mass production.
