According to The Information, Jony Ive is working with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to discuss a new “AI hardware” project .
Jony Ive previously served as Apple’s chief design officer and participated in and was responsible for many important Apple projects. He left Apple in 2019 to form his own design company, LoveFrom, whose partners include Airbnb and Ferrari.

After Ive left Apple, he continued to help Apple as a consultant. However, in 2022, Ive’s cooperation with Apple came to an end. He will no longer participate in Apple’s product development. The last Apple product he participated in is currently known to be. It’s the Mac Pro launched in 2019.
The report did not disclose the purpose and appearance of this “AI hardware”. People familiar with the matter revealed that the cooperation between the two parties hopes to create “a new hardware for the artificial intelligence era.”

The report notes that OpenAI has raised $11 billion from high-profile investors, including Khosla Ventures and even Mictosoft.
