According to Reuters, Ford Motor submitted documents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to recall 870,000 F-150 trucks, covering the 2021-2023 model year. Ford said the car’s rear axle housing could damage the wiring harness, causing the electric parking brake to activate unexpectedly.
It is learned from Reuters that Ford said it had received 918 warranty claims and three field reports of frayed wires in North America. There were 299 incidents of unintentional activation of the electric parking brake, 19 of which occurred while driving. Ford said it is not yet aware of any crashes or injuries related to the recall. Dealers will install protective tethers, harness tape wraps and replace seat belts as needed.
It is worth mentioning that Ford Motor recently released its second-quarter performance report, with total revenue for the quarter of 45 billion US dollars.
Model E (electric vehicle) revenue of 1.8 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 39%
Ford Blue (combustible fuel vehicle) revenue of 25 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5%
Ford Pro (commercial vehicles/services) revenue of $15.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22%
