The following Ford brands within the year 2020-2022 are facing a recall, Corsair, Escape, and Maverick. The issue here is relating to the 2.5-litre hybrid or plugin hybrid engine. Due to a failure, engine oil and fuel vapour accumulate under the hood, leading to combustion.

A fix to this issue is on the way, but in the meantime, all dealerships have got notifications for the recall. At this point, there have been no casualties resulting from an engine catching on fire. But knowing the problem, it’s best to keep users of the vehicles involved safe.

Reliable sources have it that over 23 reports of this issue occur while the engine is still on. So, driving these affected vehicles is a risk not only to its owner but also to people around the vehicles. According to Ford, the fix for this issue will be to adjust the vehicle’s under-engine shield and active grille shutter. This will enable air to flow more freely through the engine, hence keeping it cool in case of any overheating.

This isn’t the first time that Ford is recalling its vehicles over issues that pose a threat to users. One such case is the Mustang Mach-E which had to undergo a safety recall due to battery issues. Once such issues like these get fixed, they can now return to their owners in good and safe conditions.
