Porsche has recently upgraded the communication management system on older models of the Boxster, Cayman and Cayenne range to support Apple CarPlay.
Porsche has officially announced that these older models can be retrofitted with the Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) touchscreen device, allowing the 997 Porsche 911, 2005-2008 987 Porsche Boxster and Cayman, the 2003-2008 first generation Porsche Boxster and the Cayenne to be equipped with Apple CarPlay. The first generation of Porsche Cayenne models from 2003-2008 supported Apple CarPlay.
PCCM Plus replaces the vehicle’s original dual DIN format and can be used with the existing dashboard navigation display of the original vehicle. Users can play multimedia and store personal settings for the car by inserting a USB stick or via Bluetooth.
Owners of these models can order the new PCCM Plus through their Porsche dealer for $1,475.99 (currently around RMB 10,007). Porsche recommends that the device be installed by its dealers or approved Porsche Classic partners.
