Fisker announces yet another electric EV Project Ronin with “longest range of any EV”

0

Even before Fisker’s debut car, Fisker Ocean, hit the market, its plans to launch another model have hit the headlines. The company announced today, that Project Ronin, its third electric vehicle which is the Gran Tourer, would claim to break the record of the longest range delivered by an EV, currently held by Lucid Air, offering 520 miles as tested by the EPA. The name Ronin refers to the sedans that appear in the car chase featured in the 1998 movie Ronin.

Fisker Ronin specifications

To match the reference that it draws from the movie, the car will have active aerodynamics and employ lightweight materials. Ronin will have novel doors with improved ingress and egress. Only time will tell what form the apertures take. Fisker wrote that the car will sport “a luxurious, sustainable vegan interior that plots a new, advanced design direction.”

Fisker claims that it has innovatively incorporated the battery pack within the structure of the vehicle. The company, however, is not the first in this as such an experiment has already been tried out by Tesla in its new Model Y.

In terms of visual cues, the company did not have anything more than this to offer. This teaser image released by the company, however, reveals an electric sports car with enough room to accommodate four persons.

Fisker Ronin production, launch date

Full curtains would be raised on the car in August 2023, and its production would commence in the second half of 2024. Fisker’s second EV, the Fisker PEAR, for which the company started to take reservations just a few months back, would not enter production until 2024.

Fisker Ronin

It does not sound great when a company announces yet another product when none of its products has been brought to the market. Fisker does carry a history of failure with the Fisker Karma and the battery technology debacle. Fans would certainly like to hear reviews and reliability of its first model, Ocean, when it hits the showrooms before they can really feel excited for Ronin.
