Facebook’s profile pages will no longer show home address, content of interest and other information

Facebook’s new rules will reduce the display of users’ personal information, to avoid the user’s sexual orientation and other sensitive information being known to others. The social media company also plans to remove “interested in” areas, home addresses and other related information that may indicate a user’s sexual orientation.

In a statement to TechCrunch, a Facebook spokesperson said.

"Our goal is to make Facebook easier to navigate and use, and we're removing some profile fields, including content of interest and home addresses.

We are sending notifications to people who have filled out these fields to let them know that they will be removed. This change does not affect anyone who shares this information about themselves on Facebook."

Instagram, such as TikTok and Meta, also does not offer a more in-depth information field, but rather adds it as part of the bio. As more and more people now know how their information is being used for targeted advertising on social media, they no longer like to fill in that information either.
