Elon Musk’s controversial rule that allows paid users to use TweetDeck after 30 days

Elon Musk took the helm of Twitter, a series of controversial rules, limiting uncertified accounts to 600 tweets per day has not yet subsided, Musk again new rules: from next month Twitter Blue users can only use the TweetDeck 2.0 version.

TweetDeck is an Adobe AIR-based software that calls Twitter’s API, allowing users to send and receive Twitter messages and browse user profiles.

The biggest highlight of TweetDeck is its multi-column tweet stream support, which was acquired by Twitter in May 2011 for $40 million.

Twitter announced the new rule this Monday afternoon, with the following adjustments:

  • The new version of TweetDeck can migrate to import all saved searches, lists and columns. Users will be prompted to import relevant content after loading the app for the first time.
  • Introduction of Tweet composer: support for creating tweet posts and adding photos, videos, GIFs, polls or emojis to tweets
  • Support for Twitter Spaces
  • Advanced search
  • Sort by popular tweets and latest tweets
  • Decks allow your columns to be organized into groups for a cleaner workspace.
  • Column Creator provides a more intuitive way to create columns, creating column types such as profiles, topics, explores, events, moments and bookmarks.

Most importantly, Twitter announced that after TweetDeck continues to be free for 30 days, only users with a Twitter Blue subscription will be able to continue using TweetDeck. Twitter will invite users to pay to migrate to the new version, and those who choose not to pay will not be able to continue using the old version of TweetDeck.
