On Monday, September 5, local time, X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk threatened to sue the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), claiming that it is “trying to kill” X. The ADL has been accused of “trying to kill X.

According to the ADL’s records, following Elon Musk’s acquisition of social media outlet Twitter last year, there has been an increase in bad speech on the platform.
In a series of posts on Monday, Elon Musk said X may have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit against the ADL.
Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter in April 2022 and subsequently renamed it X, directly blamed the ADL for causing a 60% drop in advertising revenue for social media platform X in the U.S. market. It’s unclear just how serious Elon Musk’s threat to file a lawsuit is, though. But he said that if X wins the lawsuit, he’ll insist that the ADL drop the “anti” part of the organization’s name.

Elon Musk says, “Our ad revenue in the U.S. is still down 60%, largely because the ADL pressured advertisers so they almost succeeded in killing X / Twitter!”
