Elon Musk posted on X in response to Tesla investors’ criticism of the company’s sales decline in the first quarter, and compared the sales of Chinese competitor BYD.
Ross Gerber, CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management, slammed Tesla’s dismal first-quarter performance and believed that Elon Musk should bear full responsibility for it and that it was his “harmful behavior” that caused it. Tesla cars can’t be sold.
I’ve been warning about this potential reality for over a year. Now that it’s here, it’s time for shareholders to weigh in. Tesla’s board of directors should immediately replace them with independent directors in accordance with legal requirements.
Elon Musk responded: “He’s such an idiot and doesn’t even know he’s an idiot. BYD’s sales are down 42% from the previous quarter, and this quarter is tough for everyone.”
According to report yesterday, Tesla delivered a total of 386,810 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, of which Model 3/Y accounted for the vast majority. Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck may only have delivered 17,027 vehicles. It is reported that Tesla’s delivery volume in the quarter fell 8.5% year-on-year and 20% quarter-on-quarter.
Looking back at the fourth quarter of 2023, Tesla delivered a total of 484,507 vehicles, of which 461,538 Model 3/Y vehicles were delivered, and the other 22,969 vehicles were slightly lower than expected.
