The Wall Street Journal reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk parted ways with one of the company’s executives, Jerome Guillen, last year.
Guillen worked at Tesla for about 10 years before being promoted to head of Tesla’s automotive division, and his stock awards rose as Tesla’s valuation grew. it home learned that Guillen’s unrealized equity in Tesla is worth about $600 million by the end of 2020, according to agency Equilar analysis.
As their long-term relationship broke down, Elon Musk made a strange request for Guillen to give up some of his unrealized stake in Tesla, according to people familiar with the matter, the U.S. media noted. Shortly after, Guillen left Tesla.
A broader issue Elon Musk was concerned about was that some employees were being paid more from Tesla than he thought they deserved for their contributions, some of the people familiar with the matter said.
