Elon Musk, CEO of social media company Twitter, announced that most previously blocked Twitter accounts will be reinstated starting next week, aiming to reverse Twitter’s policy of permanently suspending users for repeated violations of its rules, CCTV News reported.

It is unclear how Elon Musk and the Twitter team will distinguish between the violations of the blocked accounts, and the total number of accounts that will be restored has not yet been announced.

In April this year, Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for $54.20 per share (about 384 yuan), and on Oct. 28, Elon Musk completed a deal to privatize Twitter for $44 billion (about 317.68 billion yuan).

Following Elon Musk’s acquisition, the company announced 50 percent job cuts of about 3,700 people. Now, it is expected that less than 2,700 people remain at the social media giant, which had more than 7,500 employees.
