Ehang Intelligence announced that its manned-class autopilot EH216 has completed its first manned autopilot flight demonstration in Japan, marking the first manned flight of an autonomous electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle in Japan. After receiving approval from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, today the EH216 flew two passengers, without a pilot, along the coastline of Tanoura Beach in Oita City.

In early July 2022, the EH216 completed Japan’s first eVTOL point-to-point flight demonstration in an air traffic scenario in Oita City, Oita Prefecture. This year, Ehang Intelligence and its partner MASC visited Oita Prefecture again and made the first manned autopilot flight of EH216 in Japan, which is expected to further enhance the local people’s awareness and interest in urban air transportation and accelerate the development of urban air transportation industry in Japan.

In December last year, EH216, Ehang’s intelligent self-driving aircraft, completed its first public flight in Spain.

The domestic EH216-S is a manned-class autopilot electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle (eVTOL), after all the airworthiness certification plans for the EVA EH216-S flying car were officially approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and the airworthiness certification process has entered the final stage of compliance verification. The official website introduces the EVA AAV flying cab with a fuselage height of 1.85m, a fuselage width of 5.63m, a maximum load of 220kg, a maximum range of 30km fully loaded and a maximum cruising speed of 130km / h. It uses pure electric energy and can be fully charged within two hours.
