E3 game show faces major challenges, Operators announce their withdrawal

The E3 Game Show was originally scheduled to hold its first offline exhibition in four years (E3 2023) this summer, but it had to cancel the event in March because it did not receive enough support from game manufacturers.

In June of this year, the Los Angeles City Tourism Bureau stated that E3 in 2024 and 2025 had been cancelled. Although the organizer Entertainment Software Association (ESA) stated that this was not the final decision, the once glorious E3 game show has now declined.

According to foreign media gamesindustry.biz, ReedPop, the event operator of the E3 game show, and the organizer ESA confirmed that “they have terminated the contract early”, and ReedPop will no longer participate in E3-related affairs.

It is found that although it has not yet been determined whether the 2024 E3 game show will be held officially, even if the game station is successfully held, it is not expected to be in the “familiar Los Angeles Convention Center”, and ESA has previously declared that they will be committed to The E3 2025 show will be completely revamped, but specific plans are not yet known.

The former E3 game show had constant twists and turns. It was canceled in 2020, changed to an online exhibition in 2021, and canceled again in 2022 due to issues with manufacturer participation and the epidemic.

Affected by the previous volatile situation, this year many important game console developers and game manufacturers (including Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Sega) have announced that they will no longer participate in the exhibition and will instead hold their own press conferences to reduce costs and Attract fans to come and watch as much as possible.
