Blizzard Entertainment announced earlier that its action role-playing game sequel “Diablo 4” is the company’s fastest-selling game ever. Today Blizzard announced the specific sales data of the game… Of course, these data may be a bit of a joke.
In a new press release, Blizzard said that within five days of its official release on June 6, “Diablo 4” had sales of more than $666 million. Apparently, the $666 million figure is meant to echo the game’s Hell and Lilith themes. In fact, the game likely sold far more than that. Blizzard said the game remains the fastest-selling game in its history, both in terms of unit sales and sales.
Diablo 4 is also the No. 1 game on Twitch and has held that position since it entered Early Access on June 1.
Some other stats are provided in the press release:
Players have killed 76 billion demons since Early Access began.
Players have been defeated over 316 million times... over 5 million of which were by the Butcher.
But they're not alone - players have created parties with friends more than 166 million times.
There are 163 players who reached the maximum level in Hardcore mode, where death is permanent.
The game also suffered an extended outage a few days ago due to too many players trying to log into the server at the same time. One big star who isn’t happy with Blizzard is Hubie Goldberg, the Oscar-winning comedian and co-host of the talk show “The View.” She complained in an Instagram post a few days ago that “Diablo 4” does not yet support the Mac platform, and the first three works have released Mac versions.
