Google has updated the minimum requirements for GMS (Google Mobile Services) adoption after the official Android 13 operating system release. The tech giant updates its minimum requirement criteria every year, which a smartphone should meet to run the latest Android operating system and Google mobile services.

According to the latest minimum requirement criteria released by Google, a device should have a minimum of 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage in order to run the latest Android version. If the device doesn’t meet the minimum criteria, the official support for Google Mobile Services and Android 13 won’t be provided to the device.

Further, in order to run the Go version of the latest Android OS, a device should have minimum internal storage of 16GB. However, there is no limit set on the RAM for the Android GO operating system. This minimum requirement criterion applies to all the smartphones which are on the market or which are going to launch soon. So, if anyone of your device doesn’t meet the hardware criteria shared by Google, support for Android 13 won’t be provided.
In the meanwhile, OEMs will be able to integrate GMS into Android 12 smartphones with less than 2GB of RAM. As a result, it may be some time before cellphones with inferior features are phased out of the market.
