Dell today launched a special Windows 11 device — Latitude 7030 Rugged Extreme tablet. Pricing and other information was not announced.
This is a 10-inch IP65 triple-proof tablet designed for first responders and other professionals who may work in harsh environments, as well as for factory floor needs.
It has an environmental stress rating of MIL-STD 810, and has passed a four-foot drop test and a temperature test from -28.8 °C to 62.8 °C. The tablet is also designed to withstand the rigors of the harsh environment.
Dell calls the new Latitude 7030 Rugged Extreme “the world’s lightest 10-inch fully rugged Windows tablet,” weighing just 2.2 pounds. It is the successor and companion to the 12-inch Latitude 7230 Rugged Extreme tablet.
The tablet features a water-resistant touchscreen, support for gloved hands, and support for the Dell Rugged Active Pen and Rugged 7030 Tablet Premium keyboard.
It’s powered by a 12th-generation Intel Core CPU with options of i3-1210U, i5-1240U, or i7-1260U, and RAM is available in a variety of versions from 8GB to 32GB, and it comes with a 2TB Class 25 SSD.
As for the display, the tablet comes with a 1920×1200 resolution touchscreen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, covered with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, and up to 1,000 nits of brightness.
Elsewhere, the device offers a 5MP RGB IR webcam with Windows Hello facial recognition support and a choice of a VGA IR camera or 11MP RGB camera.
It has a 36Wh internal battery, 2 USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 1 USB-A, 1 extra port with options for a barcode scanner, RJ-45, universal audio jack or extra USB-A, a Micro SD card slot, a Micro SIM slot and an optional smart card reader, Wi-Fi 6E and 5G support, and GPS. It is also equipped with GPS.
