DDR5-6000 is the best memory frequency match for Zen 4 Raider 7000 processors

AMD motherboard partners have come forward to share some design details related to the Zen 4 Raptor 7000 series AM5 desktop processors, which are known to help bring excellent overclocking and memory support to the next generation of platforms. In addition, sources have revealed that DDR5-6000 will be the memory frequency “sweet spot” for Raphael CPUs.

Those who have used the Zen 2 Raptor 3000 / Zen 3 Raptor 5000 series processors may not be unfamiliar with the FCLK division of memory.

Now, WCCFTech has gone a step further and shared the “best memory frequency match” for the Zen 4 Raider 7000 series processors.

While AMD officially supports up to 5600 MT/s of DDR5 memory, the memory frequency ‘sweet spot’ for the first AM5 desktop CPUs is a much higher 6000 MT/s.

We’re not really surprised that it’s 400 MHz higher. After all, on the AM4 platform, many PC DIYers are trying to achieve a 1:1 split between DDR4 memory and Infinity Fabric to balance system performance and latency performance.

Putting aside processor FCLK body differences, assuming you’re using DDR4-4000 memory on an older AM4 platform, the optimal IF setting would be ÷2 (for all DDR memory) at 2000 MHz.

Now it seems that AMD has managed to boost the IF clock of the Zen 4 Raider 7000 series processors by 1000 MHz.

This means that the AM5 platform is expected to deliver better memory controller (IMC) latency performance than Intel’s 12th generation Alder Lake (and 13th generation Raptor Lake) competitors.

Because Intel is adopting 2:1 or 4:1 DDR5 memory partitioning, and you may have seen Gear 1 / Gear 2 setups on Blue’s 600 series motherboards.

It should be noted, however, that once the system memory frequency exceeds DDR5-6000, the overall performance may decrease rather than increase by applying different crossover parameters.
