Cyberpunk 2077: Shadows of the Past adjusts system requirements

After CD Projekt Red announced the launch of “Cyberpunk 2077: Shadows of the Past” on September 29, it also adjusted the system requirements.

CD Projekt Red stated that the new system requirements are proposed to further develop new technologies, and for specific in-game presets, strive to achieve an output resolution of 1080p or 4K.

The official introduction is as follows:

When “Shadows of the Past” opens for pre-order, we hope to update the current system requirements to give players a clearer understanding of what configuration “Cyberpunk 2077” needs to run under, so that everyone can evaluate the expected performance of the game. The next update to the original game will be at least 90 days away, at which time these changes will take effect. And it will also be used in “Shadows of the Past”.

The new system requirements were introduced to make them more responsive to new technologies, adding support for next-generation GPUs that weren’t available when the game was released. And for specific in-game presets, strive to achieve an output resolution of 1080p or 4K.

The changes to the minimum requirements reflect our new standard for system requirements. We think it’s a better representation of the minimum specs a PC needs to run the game at an average of 30 FPS at 1080p on the Low preset. Updating system requirements is an important part of improving game performance, as well as enhancing and adding new features.

One of the changes is that the minimum requirements no longer support mechanical hard drives. In contrast, SSDs can provide faster read speeds, improved streaming, and better overall performance.

It’s important to emphasize that this doesn’t mean the game won’t run on the previous minimum settings. But after the next update of the original game, we will no longer actively provide support for these configurations, or test the game on these configurations.

Note that the FPS figures presented here are based on internal testing. Performance may vary based on specific computer hardware and software configurations, as well as changes to individual graphics settings or resolution output. Please review the updated system requirements below.

Here’s a table of system requirements to play Cyberpunk 2077, with and without ray tracing enabled.

Non-ray tracing requirements:

Graphics card: Geforce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6800 XT or Arc A750. Video memory: 8GB. Memory: 16GB. Storage: 70GB SSD.

Recommended ray tracing configuration:

The default image quality in the game is Light Chasing Ultimate. Resolution: 1080p. Expected FPS: 60. Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10. Processor: Core i9-12900 or Ryzen 9 7900X. Graphics card: Geforce RTX 3080Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Video memory: 12GB. Memory: 20GB. Storage: 70GB NVME.

Optical pursuit super speed configuration:

The default image quality in the game is ray chasing super speed mode. Resolution: 2160p. Expected FPS: 60. Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10. Processor: Core i9-12900 or Ryzen 9 7900X. Graphics card: Geforce RTX 4080. Video memory: 16GB. Memory: 24GB. Storage: 70GB NVME.

Additional Notes:

The ray tracking extreme performance is measured when DLSS frame is enabled.

The Dolby® Atmos experience requires a Dolby Atmos-enabled PC audio solution.
