Comparison images show that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 has a thinner bezel on the cover display

Samsung is reconfiguring the cover and internal display aspect ratios for the fourth-generation Galaxy Z Fold (to be launched on August 10). The cover display will change from 24.5:9 to 23:9, and judging from this image shared by Ice Universe, the company has also found a way to slightly reduce the bezels.

Comparison images show the Vivo X Fold (top), the new Galaxy Z Fold4 (middle) and the Galaxy Z Fold3 (bottom), with both vertical and horizontal bezels slimmer than those of the upcoming Z Fold.

One more thing to note in this image – the hinge profile is noticeably different, with the Fold4 being more compact and rumors suggesting that the new hinge has been redesigned to allow for smaller creases.

Back to the aspect ratio, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 body will be thicker, thus giving apps more horizontal space on the cover display and making the upper part of the display more accessible, so the internal display will also be slightly closer to square, going from a 6.25:5 aspect ratio to 6:5. Samsung has promised to release some official teasers in the three weeks leading up to the Unpacked event. We expect we’ll get some confirmation on the display and hinge rumors.

This comes after the first official renders of the Galaxy Z Fold4 (and Z Flip4) were leaked. FYI, fans in the US can already pre-order first and will get a $100 store credit for doing so – and up to $200 off if they pre-order both the Galaxy Watch5 and the new Galaxy Buds (both of which will be unveiled at the same Unpacked event).
