The C919 aircraft is China’s first single-channel large mainline passenger aircraft developed in full accordance with international advanced airworthiness standards, with China’s complete independent intellectual property rights. It successfully made its maiden flight on May 5, 2017.

On May 14, the first flight test of the first C919 aircraft, which will be delivered to the first customer by COMAC, was successfully completed. The C919, number B-001J, took off from runway 4 at Pudong Airport at 6:52 p.m. that day and landed safely at 9:54 p.m. Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) said at that time that the test flight certification and delivery preparations for the C919 aircraft were progressing in an orderly manner.

On June 14, Xu Xiaolan, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, revealed that the C919 aircraft had made a major breakthrough and would soon be certified for delivery.

The delivery of the certificate means that the C919 aircraft will soon obtain the aircraft airworthiness certificate. According to the information, the airworthiness certificate is a document issued by the airworthiness authority to prove that the civil aircraft is in a safe and usable condition according to the provisions of the civil aircraft products and parts qualification.

The first global order for the C919 was signed on March 1, 2021. China Eastern Airlines Group Co., Ltd. and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. signed a purchase contract for five C919 jumbo jets.
