Recently, the whole-vehicle energy-efficiency development laboratory jointly built by the National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center and Siemens was completed and operated in Beijing Economic Development Zone. This is the first whole-vehicle energy-efficiency development laboratory for new energy vehicles in China, and its standard is on par with international first-class.

The National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center (“National Innovation Center”) is the first national technology innovation center in the automotive industry promoted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, focusing on independent control and solving the painful and difficult problems of the new energy vehicle industry, making up shortcomings, building advantages and strengthening capabilities.
The completed laboratory focuses on the development of energy efficiency of new energy vehicles, and can also be used for hybrid vehicles and traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, filling the gap in this field in China. The relevant person in charge of the National Innovation Center introduced that the laboratory will promote more innovations and breakthroughs in low energy consumption technology, bring vehicles that are truly energy-saving and safe, reliable and practical in different driving scenarios, and provide vehicle energy efficiency services for vehicle enterprises and related industrial chains.
The reporter learned that the testing service items of the whole-vehicle energy efficiency laboratory include mechanical resistance decomposition, electrical loss test, charging performance test, driving range and energy consumption test, power system efficiency test, strategy analysis, and extreme acceleration performance test. The test lab provides ambient temperature range from -40 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius.
At the same time, in order to open up a new track for energy efficiency of new energy vehicles and fill the gap of the lack of domestic and foreign vehicle energy efficiency testing and evaluation system, NCTC, together with China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Corporation (CAERI) and Jilin University, has set up a working group for vehicle energy efficiency testing and evaluation. Through joint construction and sharing, the three parties will jointly carry out forward-looking theoretical and technical research and strategic layout, actively participate in the energy efficiency development of vehicle and component enterprises, and jointly promote the development of a vehicle energy efficiency development test and evaluation system.
