It is reported that this year’s Chengdu Auto Show has 128 domestic and foreign auto brands such as German, American, French, Japanese, Korean and joint venture and independent exhibitors, with about 1,600 vehicles on display and an exhibition scale of over 200,000 square meters.
The show was originally planned for August 26 – September 04, a total of 10 days, but the early suspension means that only four days, which also makes car companies and dealers lose a lot of money.
A salesman for SAIC Volkswagen’s ID series of new energy vehicles reportedly told the media that “during the Chengdu Auto Show, which lasted four days, I only sold two cars, and our store sold no more than 20 cars combined, a sales performance of less than 20% of previous periods.”
It also further introduced that in the first three days of the last Chengdu Auto Show, he alone sold five cars. “Golden nine and ten has always been the peak season of car sales, this year can only eat dirt.”
In addition, the car company side also has not a small loss, to participate in an auto show, the car company side at least responsible for the venue rental, booth construction, vehicle transportation, staff/actors hired, car company staff travel and other costs, other can not see there, auto show advertising, guests/customers/media invitation and reception, etc..
Among them, only the venue fee is a big head, there is information that the Shanghai Auto Show venue rental fee, the domestic exhibition area reached 1700 yuan / ㎡, for car companies, rental costs are generally in the 3000 square meters up and down, the venue costs may reach 5, 6 million yuan. And booth construction costs are also a big expense, millions of dollars is also very common.
According to this calculation, the booth leasing + construction costs together, many car companies cost more than 10 million yuan, some even more than 20 million yuan.
The Chengdu Auto Show was held for only 4 days, with 6 days being directly abandoned, and the average daily exhibition cost of car companies increased significantly compared to previous years, and vehicle sales failed to fully meet the target. Thus, this session of the Chengdu auto show for car companies and dealers, are too difficult.
