CATL released its semi-annual report. In the first half of the year, its operating income was 189.25 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 67.52%, and the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 20.717 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 153.64%. Basic earnings per share were 4.7201 RMB per share.

It is noticed that CATL also disclosed the 2023 stock incentive plan. The grant price of restricted stocks granted to incentive objects is 112.71 RMB per share. The assessment target is: the operating income value in 2023 is not less than 380 billion RMB, and the cumulative operating income value for the two years from 2023 to 2024 is not less than 810 billion RMB.
The report shows that from January to June, CATL’s research and development expenses reached 9.85 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 70.77%. According to SNE Research data, from January to May, the company’s power battery usage accounted for 36.3% of the global market, an increase of 1.7 percentage points from the same period last year.
During the reporting period, the main product sold overseas by CATL was battery systems, which did not change significantly compared with the same period of the previous year. The company’s overseas income was 67,168,937,100 RMB, accounting for 35.49% of the current operating income.

In the field of power batteries, according to data from SNE Research, CATL ranked first in the world in power battery usage for six consecutive years from 2017 to 2022. From January to May 2023, CATL power battery usage accounted for 36.3% of the global market, an increase of 1.7 percentage points from the same period last year, and still ranked first in the world; in the field of energy storage, according to SNE Research data, CATL ranked first in the world in 2021 and 2022.
