Canonical Announces Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix as Official Flavor

0

Canonical announced today that Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix will be the official flavor version, and Ubuntu 23.04, which will be released next month, will be the first release to include this flavor version.

Ubuntu flavors provide a unique way to experience Ubuntu with different default applications, settings, packages and updates provided by the Ubuntu Archive.

Lukasz Zemczak announced the news on the Ubuntu mailing list: “It is my pleasure to inform you that Ubuntu Cinnamon has been voted by the Technical Board to become the official flavor of Ubuntu! Welcome to the family! “

Cinnamon is a desktop environment made by Linux Mint developers and released as the default environment of the Linux Mint distribution. Although Linux Mint is also based on Ubuntu, Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix is closer to Ubuntu’s style than Linux Mint.

Cinnamon is a forked version of the GNOME3 project, using the GTK3 library and key GNOME 3 applications, and its appearance is closer to the Win7 system, which is convenient for users to transition from Windows to Ubuntu Cinnamon.
