According to the official introduction, the EL-5 is a flash using the new multi-function shoe interface, which can be connected to the EOS R6 Mark II. This flash is powered by the same lithium battery as the Canon Speedlight SPEEDLITE EL-1 and has the same basic performance as the SPEEDLITE EL-1. The maximum guide number is GN.60. Due to the use of lithium batteries, it can not only recycle quickly but also support about 350 continuous flashes.
The EL-5 features AF-assist illumination with automatic brightness adjustment and modeling light. The EL-5 supports assigning flash functions to the RF lens control ring for direct control, while also enabling multi-lamp system control via a smartphone app, allowing the user to control the settings of each flash. Users can operate and adjust these settings from a smartphone without having to operate the camera and flash. This is useful for multi-flash shooting, cosplay selfies, shooting with flash in inconvenient places, or when shooting assistants are limited.
The seams, movable parts, and operating parts of the EL-5 are all sealed with sealing materials and have the same level of dust and water resistance as the Canon EOS R5.
