BYD’s official public number was informed that on July 4, local time, BYD and Brazil Bahia state government jointly announced that the two sides will set up a large production base complex consisting of three factories in the city of Camassari, with a total investment of R$ 3 billion (equivalent to about 4.5 billion yuan), this move will further promote BYD’s globalization process.
According to the official introduction, BYD Brazil’s production base complex will consist of three plants, respectively, a production plant for electric buses and truck chassis, a new energy passenger car production plant, and a specializing in the processing of lithium iron phosphate materials plant. Among them, the new energy passenger car production line covers pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, with a planned annual capacity of 150,000 units. The lithium iron phosphate material processing plant will make full use of local port resources to meet the growing demand for new energy products in the global market.
Ms Li Ke, Executive Vice President of BYD Corporation and President of BYD Americas, said, “Building a large-scale production base complex in Brazil is an important milestone for BYD’s development in the Americas market, which will help accelerate the popularity of new energy vehicles in the region and also play a huge role in promoting the fight against global climate change and improving people’s quality of life. “
BYD’s Brazil production base complex is scheduled to start production in the second half of 2024 and is expected to create more than 5,000 local jobs. Mr Li Tie, General Manager of BYD Brazil, said, “Companies should create value and give back to society. We will set up a localized production team and carry out a series of training activities to enhance the professional and technical capabilities of our employees and contribute to the local economic and social development.”
Recently, BYD released the production and sales snapshot for June 2023. The data shows that BYD sold 253,046 new energy vehicles in June 2023, an increase of 88.79% compared to 134,036 units in the same period last year. cumulative sales from January to June were 125,563,637 units, an increase of 95.78% compared to the cumulative 641,350 units in the same period last year.
