BYD Thailand passenger car production base groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 10. The project covers an area of about 96 hectares and is expected to go into production in 2024 with an annual capacity of about 150,000 new energy vehicles.
BYD’s Thailand plant is expected to adopt right-hand drive vehicle technology and produce vehicles for the local Thai market, as well as for the surrounding ASEAN countries and other regions.
On the same day, BYD and its partners also delivered the 9,999th and 10,000th BYD ATTO3 vehicles in the Thai market to customers on site.
BYD will hold a brand launch conference in Bangkok in August 2022 with local partner RÊVER, announcing its official entry into the Thai passenger car market. In September of the same year, BYD signed a contract with the WHA Industrial Park in Thailand, announcing a wholly-owned investment in the construction of the first overseas passenger car factory in Thailand. From November 1st to December 12th, BYD ATTO 3 received a total of 10,305 orders in Thailand.
According to the data, BYD will sell 1,868,543 vehicles in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 152.5%, ranking first in the global sales of new energy vehicles. As BYD’s first model for the global market, BYD ATTO 3 will export a total of 40,014 vehicles in 2022.
