BYD officials learned that its pure electric small car Seagull will be officially launched on April 26.
BYD announced the pre-sale price of the Seagull during the Shanghai Auto Show, which is RMB 7.88-95,800, and opened the pre-sale. Officials said that within 24 hours of the pre-sale opening, the number of orders for the car had already exceeded 10,000 units. It is expected that the car’s price will likely be reduced by another 2,000 to 3,000 yuan when it is officially launched.
In terms of styling, the Seagull continues part of the marine aesthetic design concept with its angular shape. The LED daytime running lights are in parallel lines, the turn signals are in the “corner of the eye”, and in the middle are the LED headlights with auto on/off and auto near and far light functions. the car is available in four colourways, named “Sprout Green”, “Night Black”, “Peach Pink” and “Warm Sun White”. Warm Sun White”, with four different colours. According to the declaration, the BYD Seagull has a length, width and height of 3780/1715/1540 mm respectively and a wheelbase of 2500 mm.
The interior design of the Seagull has a multifunctional sports steering wheel and a T-zone with wireless charging for mobile phones. The centre screen is 10.1 inches in size, supports automatic rotation and is equipped with the DiLink operating system.
As for other features, the Seagull is equipped with front and passenger airbags and front and rear side curtains, ESP and EPB as standard. The version tested here is also equipped with an advanced intelligent driving assistance system, which includes adaptive cruise control, active emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning.
The Seagull, based on BYD e Platform 3.0, is powered by BYD’s new 3-in-1 electric motor with a maximum power of 55kW and a maximum torque of 135N/m. The range is offered in two versions, 305km and 405km, with corresponding battery capacities of 30.08kWh and 38.88kWh respectively.
